• High performance products that add value and help tanneries differentiate themselves
  • Innovative solutions along the entire leather-making value chain
  • BASF location: Booth 08 A&D, Hall 2, Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai, February 1- 3, 2017

India - January 27, 2017 - At the 32nd India International Leather Fair 2017, to be held from February 1-3, 2017, BASF will present innovative solutions that allow tanners to add value and create differentiation for their products.

'The growth of the leather industry depends on improving its value realization through superior performance and offering solutions to meet the ever increasing ecological requirements,' said Matthias Halusa, Vice President, Leather Chemicals, BASF. 'The innovations that we offer are tailor-made to meet the different and demanding needs of the leather industry. With this, we help our customers differentiate themselves with value adding performance that will ultimately also boost the desirability of leather as a material.'

An example of this is the company's DryFast beamhouse system. It not only reduces water consumption, effluents and processing time, but has also been found to bring consistency in leather quality, while it upgrades leather with a fuller handle and imparts finer and tighter grain in commercial production. These benefits prevent the potential rejection of leather and hence, add value to the beamhouse production process.

BASF will also present its new range of excellent PVC migration fastness spray dyes, starting with Eukesolar Black MB liquid that helps customers fulfill both performance requirements in the market as well as ecological legislations. The new multi-purpose dye solutions, which are developed for aqueous finishing, impart bright and intense shades with good levelling power. They also achieve high light fastness and superior PVC migration fastness. The product is made in BASF's plant in Mangalore, India, for the global market.

Also new at IILF is Lepton® Anti-Static LS, a newly-developed anti-static agent that reduces the electrostatic charge of leather. This helps to reduce dirt and dust particles in the finished leather and can be applied during both the wet-end and finishing processes.
