Oct. 5, 2015 - Black Hills Energy is on-time and on-budget to complete an upgrade of the natural gas distribution system in York. During the 12-week project, almost 1.5 miles of bare steel natural gas main will be replaced throughout the town with new polyethylene piping. In addition, Black Hills Energy will partially or totally replace approximately 76 natural gas service lines to individual homes and businesses.

These improvements will increase system integrity so that Black Hills Energy's more than 2,700 natural gas customers in York can continue to receive safe and reliable natural gas. Polyethylene is more resistant to corrosion and is adaptable to the changing needs of a community.

'We've been a community partner in York for more than 85 years,' said Cullen Sila, operations supervisor for Black Hills Energy. 'This investment is part of our longstanding commitment to provide safe, reliable natural gas service to homes and businesses everywhere we operate.'

There will be minimal interruptions in natural gas service to homes and businesses in the area. Black Hills Energy will notify customers of any planned interruptions to minimize the inconvenience. Some streets and alleys may be restricted or closed while the utility completes the work.

Customers are welcome to contact Black Hills Energy at 402-362-5548 ext. 10 if they have any questions about this project. Billing or account related questions should still be directed to Black Hills Energy's customer service associates at 888-890-5554.
