Salute to our Veterans Event June 17 at Blue Chip to Benefit Community Veterans Groups

Michigan City, Ind.-Breaking Down the Barriers: Salute to our Veterans, the second annual police-escorted motorcycle ride, veterans' vendor fair and dinner, will be held on Saturday, June 17 at Blue Chip Casino, Hotel & Spa, Michigan City, Indiana.

Proceeds from the event, held in cooperation with The Guardian Riders, will benefit Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) programs from Porter-Starke Services, Combat Bikesaver, Empowering Patriots, LaPorte County Veterans Treatment Court and Housing Opportunities. These programs help veterans and their families and friends recognize, understand and obtain resources to treat PTSD.

'Every day 22 veterans commit suicide. We have recognized the need for veterans programs in Northwest Indiana that teach family and friends about PTSD and how to support and get help for loved ones who are affected by it,' says Jack Elia, Blue Chip Assistant General Manager.

Salute to our Veterans begins with registration from 1 pm to 1:30 pm in the Blue Chip Casino Pavillion followed by a police-escorted motorcycle ride stopping at the Danny Bruce Memorial in Washington Park and ending at Blue Chip. A Veterans' Vendor Fair, featuring about 30 vendors, veterans' organizations and service providers, will be held from noon to 4 pm adjacent to the Orleans Ballroom in Blue Chip Casino, Hotel & Spa and at 6 pm, a dinner will be held in the Orleans Ballroom. The keynote speaker is Bryan Adams, a nationally-recognized speaker, Purple Heart recipient and PTSD survivor.

Tickets are $15 for the dinner and an additional $5 for the police-escorted non-stop motorcycle ride or $30 for a double ride and dinner, and can be purchased by credit card at ticketmaster.com, in person at The Gift Box in the Blue Chip Casino pavilion or at participating VFWs in La Porte, Lake and Porter Counties. Guests must be 21 or older, with a valid state or government issued photo ID.
