British Land was a delighted recipient of two awards at the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers Awards held in London earlier this week: the Client Management Award and the Building Operation Award for energy collaboration at Exchange House. The CIBSE awards recognise companies, products and projects that demonstrate engineering excellence in the built environment which can be measured on actual performance.

British Land's continued success in winning the Client Management Award for the third year in a row is founded on work undertaken by British Land's site management teams on a daily basis at each of its assets. Over four years to March 2013 British Land has cut portfolio wide like-for-like landlord energy by 33% and saved its occupiers cumulatively £5.2 million.

The Building Operation award was awarded in recognition for British Land's Exchange House collaboration between Broadgate Estates, Herbert Smith Freehills, Foreign and Colonial Asset Management and Societe Generale. Over four years to March 2013 Broadgate Estates has reduced landlord energy by 31% and all occupiers have made 23% reductions in their own direct energy consumption, saving £1.1 million cumulatively.

Justin Snoxall, Head of the Business Group, British Land said, 'We are absolutely delighted to have received two CIBSE awards. Both these awards are well earned recognition for our management teams on site, who maintain a vigilant eye to identify opportunities. Our aim is to reduce occupancy costs in our portfolio. Our energy management enables us to deliver on this.'
