Birmingham, 24 September 2014:  Bureau Veritas In-Service Verification division, part of Bureau Veritas UK & Ireland, is proud to announce the launch of its tablet technology MAIA and online client portal, Swift, to manage visits and record results of examinations on site.

The tablet software is a first in the inspection industry and is transforming the way inspections are carried out and delivered to clients. Immediate reporting using SWIFT, our web based portal allows clients to see inspection records, visit reports and asset lists - in real time, 24 hours a day.

MAIA (Mobile Application for Inspectors and Auditors) software has been developed in-house by Bureau Veritas. The system uses the Lenovo Helix Tablet and can be used in conjunction with a docking station where appropriate. Supported by Windows 8 operating system, MAIA uses touch screen technology combined with the latest mobile communication functionalities, such as internet via 3G and the facility to annotate photographs to identify faults and / or issues.

As demand for extended deliverables rise, Bureau Veritas has adapted and developed new technology that will change inspection and reporting throughout the industry. At this time there are no other companies providing this technology within the industry. As a world leader in inspection services this ensures Bureau Veritas has prominence in the market place.

- Lower costs due to efficiency savings and the immediate reporting to clients of any issues using Swift- web based portal

- Engineer surveyors are able to receive new or amended work instructions and send completed reports whilst connected to the internet via 3G, WiFi or broadband connection
- Engineer surveyors can request and receive additional information not supplied with the original work instruction to complete the inspection visit
- Photographs can be taken on the tablet and annotated to assist clients in identifying a fault / problem
- Engineers create a summary of inspections that have been undertaken which can be attached to an email and sent to the client as required
- System incorporating RFID tagging to identify assets individually.
