National Dental Plan (NDP) has launched a new single sign-on (SSO) service, allowing quicker and simpler access to online accounts for members that use online flexible benefit systems to manage their benefits.

Single sign-on enables members of NDP to submit and manage their online claims straight from their employers' flexible benefits portal, simplifying the process and making access to claims much easier.

The new system, delivered free by NDP, is designed to help employers drive engagement with their flexible benefits platforms. Members can get updates on the status of a claim, check their benefits entitlements and access claims forms directly from their employers' flexible benefits portal and without the burden of entering multiple passwords.

Dental insurance is one of the most claimed employee benefits, and research by Capita has revealed it is the second most wanted benefit among employees after life insurance. In addition, more than 72 per cent of employers responding to The Benefits Research 2014 agreed that engagement with their benefits platforms was the area they most wanted to improve.

Andrew Bower, managing director of NDP, said: "By making the claims process quicker and simpler, single sign-on will encourage our members to make better use of their employer's existing online portals.

"In turn, the new system will encourage greater use of employers' platforms, drive engagement and help increase value for money.

"NDP is committed to delivering an excellent and efficient service, so we have made it a priority to make it easier for members to access and manage their claims online."

The launch of single sign-on follows an enhancement of NDP's members' zone, which now also allows people to submit claims online, making the process faster and more efficient.

Single sign-on is available to all flexible benefits clients of NDP, and there is no charge from NDP for deploying the new system.
