Company Celebrates with Community Donations

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA (July 16, 2015) - CarMax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX), the nation's largest retailer of used cars, officially opened its first store in Tallahassee, Florida, located at 3500 West Tennessee Street. The store is more than 8,000 square-feet, occupies more than 4 acres and stocks more than 130 used vehicles.

In celebration of the Tallahassee store opening, CarMax donated $2,500 to the Foundation for Leon County. Tallahassee CarMax associates selected this nonprofit for its support of the AmeriCorps program, where members mentor academically at-risk students in low-income, low-performing schools. CarMax associates recently volunteered for the AmeriCorps HOPE Summer Fun Day, giving homeless children and their families a chance to enjoy a summer day filled with fun activities.

The CarMax Foundation also is providing a $5,000 grant to Special Olympics Florida to fund its Leon County programming, serving 400 youth with special needs. More than 150 local volunteers give their time and talents to execute the program. This grant also came at the recommendation of Tallahassee CarMax associates. The CarMax Foundation has granted more than $25 million on behalf of associates across the country since 2003.

"CarMax associates are excited to build strong, positive relationships with community partners and car shoppers," said Charles Erbe, location general manager of the Tallahassee CarMax. "Nobody understands customers better than we do, and we look forward to matching customers with their perfect car at our first store in Tallahassee, Florida."
