14 April 2014

4th Boucles du Cœur: Carrefour continues its commitment to helping children experiencing difficulties Between 14 April and 30 June 2014, Carrefour will hold the 4th "Boucles du Cœur" - a nationwide aid event that the retailer organises to support associations that help children experiencing difficulties. This year, donations will go to the European Leukodystrophy Association (ELA), as well as to more than 200 local associations that receive support from Carrefour and Carrefour Market stores. Carrefour is gearing up for the Boucles du Cœur

This year, as they do every year, Carrefour and Carrefour Market stores and their employees are gearing up to spend 11 weeks helping a number of associations that lend their support to children experiencing difficulties.
Through donation campaigns, solidarity products and events organised by the stores, Carrefour customers and employees will all be able to take part in this major aid operation in their own way. Proceeds from this year's Boucles du Cœur (the 4th) will go to the ELA (of which Zinedine Zidane is a sponsor), as well as to more than 200 other local associations chosen by Carrefour store teams all over France.
In 2013, with the help of more than 30,000 people, more than €1 million was raised for the "Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque" association (set up to enable children with heart malformations to undergo surgery in France when they lack the technical and financial means to be cared for in their countries of origin), as well as a number of other local associations. The aim this year is to set a new generosity record!

Warm festivities at the France-Norway football match

The friendly football match between France and Norway due to be held at the Stade de France on 27
May will be an opportunity for Carrefour to celebrate the Boucles du Cœur. A number of the ELA's sponsors will be there to take part in a penalty shootout at half-time, together with four employees from the Carrefour and Carrefour Market stores that have collected the most donations. And the event will also serve as an opportunity to present the ELA with a check as part of a fun and festive event.

How to take part in the 2014 Boucles du Cœur

There are a number of ways for families, colleagues, friends, employees and customers who want to
do something to help children experiencing difficulties to take part in the Boucles du Cœur:
- They can make a donation when they are paying for their shopping to the association chosen by the store (ELA
or a local association).
- They can make a donation online by going to www.carrefour.frand then clicking on
Boucles du Coeur
- They can take part in an event organised by their local Carrefour or Carrefour Market store: there will be tombolas, local fetes, pastry sales, flea markets, sports events, etc. held in stores throughout the campaign (see details of the events at www.carrefour.frin the Boucles du Coeur section)
- They can buy solidarity products (the proceeds of which will go to the selected associations) from
their nearest Carrefour Market store between 6 and 11 May.
- Read about the associations on the www.lesbouclesducoeur.carrefour.fr website and share it with your friends. The associations that get the most number of "likes" and the pages of which are most shared on the social networks will get extra donations from Carrefour.

About the ELA:

Founded in 1992 and declared as being in the public interest in 1996, the ELA is made up of families striving to combat leukodystrophy - genetic degenerative diseases which result in imperfect development of the myelin sheaths around the nerve fibres that make up the central nervous system. Every week in France, 3 to 6 children (20 to 40 in Europe) are born with these disorders. Since it was first set up, the association has funded 447 programmes worth a total of €35.4 million. Facilitating research and providing families who are affected by leukodystrophy with support are the association's priorities. For more information, visit www.ela-asso.com/MT
