Cemex de CV : provides maximum durability to new Foro Boca

CEMEX, S.A.B. de C.V. ('CEMEX') (NYSE: CX) announced today its participation in the construction of the recently inaugurated Foro Boca concert hall in Boca del Río, Veracruz, Mexico. For this project, CEMEX supplied 9,000 cubic meters of high durability concrete.

With concrete volumes inspired by breakwaters, the venue required a product capable of reaching a specific finish. Thus, the company managing the project, Ingeniería y Desarrollo, S.A. de C.V. (IDA), sought CEMEX's expertise and collaboration.

Taking into consideration the project's location on the seaside and the client's requirement of a clearly visible façade throughout time, CEMEX designed a special concrete to increase the lifespan of structures in coastal areas with aggressive agents such as sulfates and chlorides.

Once the concrete was chosen, CEMEX's Cement and Concrete Technology Center (Centro de Tecnología del Cemento y del Concreto) adapted the formula to create an exclusive product for Foro Boca, which combined the aesthetic characteristics of concrete boarding's color and finish without compromising durability.

In addition to tailor-made concrete, CEMEX offered holistic customer service-from pouring concrete at specific times to training foremen in correct concrete vibration.

'Working with CEMEX was a great success: We had a very special venue in which the concrete had to be perfect, and it was. We would have hardly enjoyed this result with another company,' said Ricardo del Río, CEO of IDA.

Designed by the architect Michel Rojkind, Foro Boca is built on an area of approximately 7,000 square meters and comprises a concert hall for 850 people, a rehearsal room, a panoramic terrace, and offices. The venue also features state-of-the-art isoptic acoustic technical equipment and theatre mechanics that make it one of the most sophisticated concert halls in Mexico.

The new building will be home to the Boca del Rio Philharmonic Orchestra and will host theatre, cinema, and contemporary dance shows. The inauguration of Foro Boca marks the start of the revitalization of Boca del Rio, a local governmental project designed to renovate the urban infrastructure and image of this part of the city.
