Centrica's commitment to being a responsible business has been recognised through its inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index, which is a globally respected gold standard in corporate responsibility analysis.

Centrica has featured in the Index since its inauguration in 2001, illustrating a strong and enduring pledge to sustainable business growth.

To be included in the FTSE4Good Index, a company's risk and performance on material environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues are examined. Analysis therefore focuses on criteria ranging from combatting climate change and upholding human rights, to countering bribery and corruption. As a result, the Index challenges companies to improve how they do business, encourages open and transparent dialogue between stakeholders and drives socially responsible investment.

Julia Rebholz, Centrica's Director of Sustainability said: "Being a successful business is about more than just making a profit, it's about being a good corporate citizen who acts responsibly and contributes positively to society. As a 21st century energy company, we strive to do just that whether it's meeting the changing needs of our customers through innovative products and services or securing energy supplies safely and sustainably. I am pleased by our ongoing inclusion in the Index and we will continue to evolve our activities so that we can build trustworthiness in our company and sector".

This result follows top marks awarded for disclosure and action on climate change by CDP, placing Centrica in the top 1% globally and joint-first out of all FTSE 350 companies. It also comes after securing eighth place and being the best performing utility in Corporate Knights' Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World Index.
