The operating result of CH. Karnchang Public Company Limited, Subsidiaries and Joint Ventures in the second quarter for the three-month and six-month periods ended June 30, 2012 yields an decrease in profit by 87.3 % and 55.6 % respectively, compared with the operating result from the same respective period of the year 2011 due to the following factors:
1. For the three-month period of the year 2012, the Company's interest income has gained on sales of investments in subsidiary and associated companies of around Baht 232 million. This is decreased from the same period of the last year at around Baht 825 million.
2. In the three-month period of the present year, the Company has gained its loss share from investing in the associated companies for around Baht 26 million while for the same quarter of the previous year, the Company had gained profit from investing in the associated companies for around Baht 330 million decreasing to approximately Baht 356 million.
3. For the six-month period of the year 2012, the revenue from construction service has been increased according to the progress of the large-sized construction projects such as Contract for the Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Project in The Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Bang Yai - Rat Burana MRT Purple Line Construction Project : Bang Yai - Bang Sue Section; Contract 1 : Elevated Structure Work including the Construction of Small Power Plant Project (SPP) : 120 MW Gas Combined Cycle Cogeneration Power Plant etc.
