This announcement is made pursuant to Rule 13.09(2) of the Rules Governing the Listing of Securities on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited and the Inside Information Provisions under Part XIVA of the Securities and Futures Ordinance (Cap. 571 of the Laws of Hong Kong).

On 28 August 2017, the sixth meeting of the fourth session of the board of directors of China Shenhua Energy Company Limited (the "Company") considered and approved the Resolution on Formation of a Joint Venture. For details, please refer to the Announcement on Entering into Joint Venture Framework Agreement and the Progressive Announcement of Suspension of Trading in A Shares on 28 August 2017.

GD Power Development Co., Ltd., the counterparty of the transaction, has received the letter of inquiry from the Shanghai Stock Exchange on the significant asset restructuring plans involved in the formation of the joint venture and has submitted their replies.

Upon application, the trading in A shares of the Company will resume from the start of the trading sessions on 1 September 2017.
