CHICAGO, Feb. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- CNA and the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) today announced Double 'D' Roofing & Sheet Metal of York, Pennsylvania as this year's winner of the CNA/NRCA Community Involvement Award. The Community Involvement Award honors the outstanding acts of charity performed for their communities by NRCA members.

As winner, Double 'D' Roofing & Sheet Metal received a $7,500 monetary donation from CNA to be bestowed to its charity of choice. The organization selected Shadowfax Corporation, which provides a variety of services for the mentally, emotionally and physically challenged individuals and finds meaningful work for them.

"CNA recognizes and values the pride, passion and dedication of roofing contractors, and we are proud to recognize Double 'D' for selecting and partnering with Shadowfax to make a greater impact beyond what Double 'D' could accomplish on its own," said Aaron Kock, Assistant Vice President and Industry Leader, Underwriting for Construction, CNA Commercial.

Double 'D' Roofing & Sheet Metal launched itself to the top of this year's outstanding applications due to its strong community partnership with Shadowfax. Double 'D' Roofing & Sheet Metal's manufacturer, Firestone, ships screws and metal insulation plates to Shadowfax for its community to pre-assemble and re-package. Once complete, Double 'D' Roofing & Sheet Metal installs those screws and metal insulation plates as part of the Firestone rubber roof systems.

The award was presented February 7 in New Orleans during the Awards Ceremony and Reception at NRCA's 131st International Roofing Expo, the preeminent roofing construction and maintenance event where roofing professionals gather to see, compare and learn about the newest products, best practices and innovations essential to roofing contractors' success. Second and third place awards were also given out to Action Roofing Hawaii LLC of Kapolei, Hawaii and O'LYN Roofing of Norwood, Massachusetts, respectively, Action Roofing Hawaii LLC received a $5,000 monetary donation for its nonprofit partner, Kahauiki Village, and O'LYN Roofing, received a $2,500 monetary donation for its nonprofit partner, The Home for Little Wanderers.
