NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / December 4, 2017 / U.S. markets retreated from records high on Friday as investors keep an eye on the progress tax legislation and news on Michael Flynn spur on the market. The Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 0.17 percent to close at 24,231.59, while the S&P 500 Index gained 0.20 percent to close at 2,642.22. The Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 0.38 percent to close at 6,847.59.

"If you took out the Flynn news, we'd probably be up right now, but if you took out the tax news, we'd see more volatility" in the market, said Wade Balliet, chief investment strategist at Bank of the West. "I think they're canceling each other out."
