The 147TH Open

Stuttgart/Carnoustie, Scotland. Mercedes-Benz, as Official Patron at
The 147TH Open, is intensifying their commitment to the subject of electromobility. Together with The R&A, the host of The Open, the focus will be on the subject of sustainability. With the Concept EQ, Mercedes-Benz shows what the future of electric mobility can look like: sporty, elegant, intelligent and sustainable.

As Official Car, Mercedes-Benz provides mobility at every point in the golf tournament, which has been held since 1860. With a range of up to 500 kilometres as well as the typical Mercedes strengths with regard to safety, comfort, functionality and connectivity, the Concept EQ showcases the future of a modern and sustainable automobile. Visitors to The Open have the possibility to take a look at the Concept EQ at close quarters in the Spectator Village.

As every year, a special highlight of The 147TH Open is the 'Return of the Claret Jug' on the Monday of the tournament week. Jordan Spieth, 2017 Champion Golfer of the Year, drove up this year in the Concept EQ provided by Mercedes-Benz and handed the iconic trophy over to The R&A.

'Mercedes-Benz is a long-term supporter of golf and has a strong commitment to the promotion and development of the sport,' said Martin Slumbers, Chief Executive of The R&A. 'We are delighted that Mercedes-Benz, with their drive for innovation, are breaking new ground with regard to sustainability and mobility solutions.'& amp; lt; /p>

At the only European Major tournament, the best golfers in the world will compete against one another in front of around 185,000 spectators in Carnoustie, Scotland, in 2018. Four Mercedes-Benz Brand Ambassadors are among the contenders at The Open: Bernhard Langer, winner of The Senior Open 2017 and thus qualified for The Open; Haotong Li, who came third last year; Rickie Fowler and Jon Rahm, two of the top ten players in the official golf world rankings.
