New centerhung and LED scorer's tables installed this spring
BROOKINGS, S.D. - July 16, 2018 - When fans enter Samford University's Pete Hanna Center in Birmingham, Alabama, they will be greeted by a new LED video display system manufactured and installed by Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, in conjunction with Van Wagner Sports Properties. The new four-display centerhung and four LED scorer's tables were installed this spring to improve the visual experience for every event.
'With the new video boards, we have the ability to raise the experiences for our student-athletes and fans in the Pete Hanna Center and are thankful for the enhancements thanks to our partnership with Van Wagner Sports & Entertainment,' said Bo Kerr, Samford University's deputy director of athletics for revenue generation.
The rectangle-shaped centerhung configuration features two large sideline-facing displays that each measure more than 8 feet high by 15.5 feet wide and two end-facing displays that each measure more than 6 feet high by 11.5 feet wide. All four displays feature a tight 6-millimeter line spacing to bring crisp, clear imagery to every seat in the venue.
These displays are capable of variable content zoning allowing each to show one large image or to be divided into multiple windows to show any combination of live video, instant replay, statistics and game information, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.
'The updated four-sided video-capable centerhung will significantly improve upon the 2007 installation,' said Glen Marts, Daktronics sales representative. 'Back then, we installed the tightest possible resolution ring display at 23-millimeters. This new centerhung will replace that technology and bring it into a new age. We're proud to continue our long-standing partnership with Samford University on this new project. We're excited to experience the enhanced game-day action at the Pete Hanna Center this fall.'
Along the side of the court, four LED scorer's tables were installed to bring additional content opportunities for the school, their fans and sponsors. Each measure 2 feet high by 9.5 feet wide featuring 10-millimeter line spacing. They can show complimentary content to the main video displays as well as offering the opportunity to highlight sponsors and statistics throughout events.
These new displays will work in conjunction with the existing end wall video display to amplify the visual experience at every event.
Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with consistent, industry-leading performance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
