Deutsche Lufthansa is one the world's largest airline company. Net sales break down by activity as follows:
- air transportation (85.1%): transport of passengers (88.1% of net sales), freight and mail (11.9%);
- maintenance and leasing services (8%): repairs, maintenance, and leasing of aircraft, engines, and airline equipment;
- on-board catering services (6.1%);
- computer services (0.8%).
At the end of 2011, the group had a fleet of 696 aircrafts broken down between Lufthansa German Airline (355), Swiss (93), Austrian Airlines (88), British Midland (60), Lufthansa CityLine (41), Germanwings (30), Lufthansa Cargo (18), Air Dolomiti (6) and Eurowings (5).
Net sales break down geographically as follows: Europe (65.4%), Asia-Pacific (14.1%), North America (13.5%), Middle East (2.7%), Central and South America (2.4%) and Africa (1.9%).
