Fast, safe and customized At Medtec 2014 UV expert Hönle shows UV-LED curing systems for bonding applications in medical device assembly. Hönle is sharing stand with subsidiary and adhesive specialist Panacol.

Bonding is gaining more and more importance as a joining technology for medical devices. Most important is the perfect interaction between adhesive and curing unit as well as an exact adjustment to the particular bonding application. The high-tech products of Hönle can do both, which is a consequence of joint research and development with the worldwide renowned expert for industrial adhesives Panacol. In such close co- operation, bonding systems are developed, which are customized to any demand.
At Medtec 2014 Hönle shows their innovative UV-LED curing units for medical devices. First of all, their bluepoint LED eco, which is applied for bonding medical disposables, e.g. needle bonding. The highly intensive point source wins over by its well-engineered technology. Up to four LED-heads can be connected to the compact control unit. Each of them is able to emit different wavelengths, 365, 385 or 405 +/-10nm. Continuous operation is possible. Due to the size of the irradiation field the LED-heads are available with different lenses. However, the chief attraction of bluepoint LED eco is its size and weight:

Press Release

With 65 x 160 x 130mm the UV-LED point source weighs only 500 grams! Thus, it can be integrated into manufacturing plants which offer very little space. The high intensity of bluepoint LED eco - up to 16.000 mW/cm² - together with high-tech adhesives by Panacol allow a complete curing in less than two seconds!

Also ideal for medical device assembly is the LED Powerline. This high-performance array is available in all current UV-LED wave lengths, its length can be modified in 40mm-steps.

Another highlight at the Medtec is the LED Cube 100. This compact UV-LED irradiation chamber is applied for laboratory, manual or small- scale manufacturing processes. By employing different LED units, the emission range is adjustable to various fields of application. LED as- sembly and an electronic power supply guarantee high intensity and homogenous light distribution inside the chamber. The recognition of LED-malfunction and a comprehensive monitoring function provide very high processs stability. LED Cube 100 is air-cooled and offers an intensitiy of up to 1.000 mW/cm².

All Hönle UV- and UV-LED curing units match perfectly with Panacol adhesives. Visit us as Medtec 2014, hall A4, satnd 465.
