Dubai Islamic Bank honoured by Sharjah Human Resources Department for promoting Emiratisation

Bank recognised for prominent role in supporting the Government's Nationalisation efforts

Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB), the largest Islamic Bank in the UAE, has been honoured by the Sharjah Human Resources Department (SHRD) for its valuable investment in promoting Emiratisation. The Bank was recognised for its efforts at a ceremony organised by Dr. Tariq Sultan Bin Khadem, Member of the Executive Council of Sharjah, and Chairman of the SHRD. Attended by senior leaders from Sharjah and the federal government, as well as heads of businesses from the private sector, the event brought together the SHRD's strategic partners in order to strengthen ties within the network and promote collaboration towards meeting the Emirate's human development goals.

DIB has played an important role in supporting the UAE's Emiratisation strategy by supporting a number of societal and government initiatives, such as organising several open recruitment days last year in association with the SHRD. At the same time, the Bank has also been an active participant at the annual Sharjah career fairs, where it has provided promising career and professional development opportunities for young Emirati graduates.

Commenting on DIB's commitment to promoting the growth of UAE Nationals in the private sector, Obaid Al Shamsi, Chief of Human Resources & Admin, said: 'As the first Islamic Bank in the UAE, we have a longstanding heritage of supporting the development of the local community. Given our efforts in this regard, we are honoured to receive this recognition from the SHRD and see it as a validation of our commitment to promote the economic and the social development of the UAE.'

Cornel Fourie, Head of HR, added: 'For more than forty years we have regarded Emiratisation as a key element of the Bank's philosophy, with the aim of promoting the next generation of leaders who will be able to contribute to the country's growth. With this in mind, we have invested in a range of programs designed to train UAE Nationals across all stages of their professional and personal development.'

DIB's student sponsorship and summer training programs look to provide aspiring candidates a chance to work in different service areas of the bank and also give them the opportunity to secure full-time positions for their future careers. On a similar note, its Emarati program and the Work Placement courses are aimed at providing successful graduates the opportunity to train and work at the Bank, while it also gives existing employees the training needed to enhance their skills for managerial positions.

Indicative of the success of its efforts, DIB has been recognised multiple times by the Emirates Institute of Banking and Financial Services for its achievements in recruiting UAE Nationals and supporting the long-term development of the country.
