Incident During Periodic Inspection of the No.2 Unit at the Matsuura Thermal Power Plant (Final Report) - Full Restoration (output: 1,000MW) -

Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. ("J-POWER") had previously announced (on March 28,
2014) that during a periodic inspection at the Matsuura No.2 Unit (output: 1,000MW) an accident occurred in which a low-pressure turbine rotor fell and was damaged in March last
year.
After the accident, J-POWER has newly fabricated a low-pressure turbine rotor in efforts to resume full-load operation at an early date (as announced on April 17, 2014) while recommencing operation with a provisional restoration at partial loading (output: 425MW) to secure power supply in the interim (as announced on August 7, 2014).
Through the work for full restoration which started in this spring, J-POWER finished setting and trial operation of the new low-pressure turbine rotor and finally resumed operation with output of 1,000MW at 0:00 am today.
In order to ensure that another such accident does not occur, J-POWER continues to make a company-wide effort to prevent recurrence and make every possible effort for stable operation of power plants.
