ENGIE has decided to offer only green electricity contracts in France to both residential and small businesses customers2. Starting today, at no extra cost3 all new electricity contracts now provide for green electricity - one more example of ENGIE's commitment to the development of renewable energy and demonstration of the Group's ambition to become a leader in the energy transition.

The complete range of ENGIE brand offers to residential and small businesses customers in France is going green1, certified by Guarantees of Origin: for every new electricity contract written, ENGIE acquires the equivalent amount of the customer's electricity in certified Guarantee of Origin electricity from renewable energy producers. A Guarantee of Origin certifies that the electricity was produced from a renewable source of energy and injected into the electricity grid.

'The energy transition is a revolution concerning governments and small businesses, but also simple citizens. With this pivotal choice to sell green electricity, ENGIE confirms its commitment to the development of renewable energy and offers its customers in France the possibility to become actors themselves in the cause. With three million electricity customers in France already, ENGIE's goal is to sign up one million green electricity contracts before the end of next year,' declared Isabelle Kocher, Chief Executive Officer of ENGIE.

To keep pace with its customers, and thus answer one of the first concerns of the French, ENGIE is making this green electricity offer without extra charge. In fact, an OpinionWay poll carried out for ENGIE in September 20164 demonstrates both a strong preference for environment-friendly products and the importance of reasonable pricing to encourage a buy decision. Respect for the environment when choosing a product or service is important for 86% of those polled. Whether or not an energy provider offers access to renewable energy is important for 82% of those surveyed. Moreover, 53% of respondents indicated that they sometimes decide against such services or products if they involve complicated conditions and 88% would like to see renewable energy offers made without a surcharge.

Green electricity in the home …

All ENGIE electricity offers5 to residential customers go green:

  • Elec Fixe 1, 2 and 3 years: a guaranteed fixed price, no increases for 1, 2 or 3 years, both on the kilowatt-hour rate and the subscription package cost.
  • Elec Ajust 2 and 3 years: a fixed price guarantee, no increases for 2 or 3 years with a downward rate adjustment on the contract's anniversary date if there is a decrease in the regulated tariff6, i.e. the advantages of a fixed and a regulated price offer.
  • Elec WeekEnd: for homes equipped with a LinkyTM smart meter, offering a 30% reduction in the cost of electricity used during the weekend and during weekday off-peak hours7.

… for mobility…

ENGIE is the first energy provider to offer a product specially designed for owners of electric or hybrid vehicles: Elec'Car8, an offer of attractive pricing for overnight vehicle charging at home: the kilowatt hour price of ENGIE's Elec'Car offer during off-peak hours is 50% lower than the peak-hour rate of the offer. This reduced rate also applies to other off-peak hour electricity use.

… and for business use

For all small business owners in France - artisans and craftsmen, shopkeepers, independent professionals and small businesses - since June 2016 ENGIE has been offering a 100% green electricity offer that is of guaranteed renewable energy origin.

This 3-year product offers a 20% reduction on the per kilowatt hour cost of electricity in the first year9, thus savings on the energy bill compared with the regulated tariff10.

Explanations

‎ENGIE purchases the equivalent of the customer's electricity consumption in Guarantee(s) of Origin renewable energy issued by the energy producers. In accordance with articles L314-14 and following of the Energy Code, a Guarantee of Origin certifies that the electricity in question was generated by renewable sources and injected into the power grid. For residential customers, this applies to each new electricity contract, with the exception of the Happ-e electricity offer. For small businesses customers, this applies to each new electricity contract - with the exception of the 'fixed price' electricity offer - contracted for a maximum of 36 kVA.

Small businesses customers: artisans and craftsmen, shopkeepers, independent professionals, and small businesses.

Residential customers: for 'Elec Fixe' or 'Ajust' offers subscribed at 6 kVA or above: in relation to the regulated tariff of October 2016, on the date of subscription, excluding fluctuation(s) in the regulated tariff over the term of the contract. For other offers: green electricity costs the same as the same traditional ENGIE electricity offer in October / November 2016. Small businesses customers: 100% green electricity offer from renewable sources: in relation to the 'Tarif Bleu' regulated tariff (non residential), at equivalent metering type (base or off-peak option), subscription level, and consumption, on the date of subscription, excluding fluctuations in the regulated tariff and / or the TURPE (network user charge).

OpinionWay poll of September 2016, on a representative sample of 1,020 French people.

Market offer. Customers who select a market price electricity offer are free to revert to the Regulated Tariff at any time, at no cost, upon submitting a request. Fixed price, excluding fluctuations in taxes, fees, and contributions, of all kinds.

The decrease in the kWh price, excluding all fees and taxes, takes effect on the contract anniversary date and applies to the following year up to a limit of 7% over 3 years.

Two-year 'Elec Weekend' market offer. The kWh price, excluding all fees and taxes, is 30% less during weekday off-peak hours (Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day defined by your network operator) and weekends (12:00 a.m. on Saturday through 11:59 pm on Sunday), compared to the ENGIE two-year peak hour 'Elec Weekend' offer.

Customers who opt for the three-year Elec'Car market offer benefit from an off-peak hours (as defined by your network operator) kWh price, excluding all fees and taxes, that is 50% lower than that of the ENGIE Elec'Car offer peak-hour rate. This offer, available at: www.elec-car.fr, is reserved for residential customers who own a rechargeable electric or hybrid vehicle, subject to signature of an affidavit verifiable by ENGIE at any time, and to peak/off-peak metering subscription. Depending on their situation, customers who switch from simple metering to peak/off-peak metering may be charged a fee by their network operator (see service catalogue).

For all three-year sales contracts involving 100% green electricity from guaranteed renewable sources signed prior to November 30, 2016, customers will receive a 20% reduction in the kWh price, excluding all taxes, for the first year. This offer may not be combined with any other discount.

For small businesses customers currently using the 'Tarif Bleu' regulated tariff (non residential), at equivalent metering type (base or off-peak option), subscription level, and consumption, and excluding fluctuations in this regulated tariff and / or the TURPE (network user charge).
