ENKA, with its partner General Electric, will design and build the Dhi Qar Combined Cycle Power Plant, which will add 750 MW to the Iraqi Grid. The project is located near Nasiriyah City, 230 km northwest of Basra, in southern Iraq.
The Gas Turbines were purchased by Ministry of Electricity of Iraq as part of Mega-Deal between Government of Iraq and GE and will be handed over to GE-ENKA for installation and commissioning. These units are the last GT's of the Mega-Deal to be installed. All other materials and equipment shall be purchased and shipped to Iraq by GE-ENKA. The project will consist of 1 power block which will produce 750 MW of power at 132 and 400 kV transmission levels. It will include four (4) GE 9E series combustion turbine generators which will be able to fire three (3) types of fuels: The main fuel will be the Crude Oil (CO) and the back-up fuels will be Light Distillate Oil (LDO) and Natural Gas. The design of the equipment will be suitable for operating 24-hours/day, 7-days/week with useful life of 25-years.
