Evergreen Group today held the naming ceremony for EVER LIFTING, the tenth of its L-type vessels to be built by CSBC Corporation in Taiwan and the last vessel in the thirty strong series. The ceremony took place at CSBC's Kaohsiung shipyard and was officiated by Mr. Bronson Hsieh, Evergreen's Second Vice Group Chairman. The official rope-cutting of the new 8,508 TEU vessel was performed by Ms. Jally Chang, Senior Vice President, Management Head Office of Evergreen Group.

Mr. Hsieh said in his remarks, "CSBC started delivering the first of our L-type vessels in August 2013. With the construction of EVER LIFTING now completed, this shipbuilding program has been successfully concluded. These newbuildings have replaced aging chartered vessels in our operating fleet. They are performing to an excellent standard and have enabled us to offer an ever more efficient and reliable transportation service."

Owned by Evergreen Marine (UK) Ltd., the ship will be delivered on August 31 and phased in to Evergreen Line's Far East - Middle East route to replace an older unit on the trade. Evergreen's L type vessels are flexible in deployment and can be transferred among various trade routes to meet the changing demands of the global economy. The markets served by this versatile fleet now include Far East to Europe, Middle East, South America, the U.S. west coast and, via the Suez Canal, the U.S. east coast.

Based on the positive experience of working with CSBC on the L-type shipbuilding project, Evergreen signed a newbuilding contract early this month with CSBC for ten 2,800 teu ships. In line with the stringent eco-friendly standards that Evergreen has imposed on its own operation, the ships will be fitted with various fuel-efficient devices and the shipbuilder's innovative energy-saving bow. These new ships are scheduled to be delivered from the second half of 2017 to the first half of 2018. The program will rejuvenate Evergreen's operating fleet thereby enhancing service quality to customers and the line's competitiveness in the market.
