Award recognizes company's continual commitment to healthy trees

BOSTON - Eversource's dedication to promoting healthy trees as part of its effort to maintain reliable electric service has again earned the company national recognition as a Tree Line USA Utility. This is the eighth time the National Arbor Day Foundation and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation have presented Eversource with this prestigious recognition.

'This coveted recognition by the National Arbor Day Foundation affirms the effectiveness of our tree maintenance program,' said Eversource Supervisor of Vegetation Management Paul Sellers. 'Promoting the natural growth of trees, while at the same time minimizing tree-related power outages using a variety of methods, is a vital part of our commitment to delivering great customer service.'

The Tree Line USA designation recognizes utilities for their expertise in balancing their commitment to consistently meeting customer electricity needs with the aesthetic and environmental benefits of streetside trees. Eversource is dedicated to using industry best-practices in vegetation management to serve customers, including investing in new technology to further improve its ability to do so.

This summer, Eversource's award-winning vegetation team is taking numerous measures in communities across the commonwealth to improve system reliability. This includes the use of a new, specialized pickup truck mounted with distance-measuring equipment to collect real-time data about the relationship between tree limbs and electric lines.

The Arbor Day Foundation is a nonprofit conservation organization of nearly one million members, with a mission to inspire people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees. More information on the foundation and its programs can be found at www.arborday.org.

Eversource (NYSE: ES) transmits and delivers electricity and natural gas to 1.7 million customers throughout Massachusetts, including approximately 1.4 million electric customers in 140 communities and 300,000 gas customers in 51 communities. Recognized as the top U.S. utility for its energy efficiency programs by the sustainability advocacy organization Ceres, Eversource harnesses the commitment of its approximately 8,000 employees across three states to build a single, united company around the mission of safely delivering reliable energy and superior customer service.
