Mutual aid crews return to Connecticut following Irma restoration support

BERLIN, Conn. - With the effects of Hurricane Jose expected to impact parts of Connecticut in the next few days, Eversource is prepared to respond to damage or outages caused by the storm. The company is set to open its state-of-the-art emergency operations centers in Newtown, Hartford and New London beginning Tuesday and encourages customers to take steps to prepare for the storm.

'We continue to carefully monitor Jose's path and are ready to address impacts to the electric system,' said Peter Clarke, Senior Vice President of Emergency Preparedness for Eversource. 'We're confident our ongoing technology upgrades, combined with our tried and tested emergency response plan, enables us to safely and efficiently handle issues that may arise.'

Eversource crews assisting with power restoration in Florida after Hurricane Irma are returning to Connecticut and will be ready to respond to power outages if needed. Other company employees are on standby and remain prepared to assist with any potential storm restoration.

Customers should prepare for any severe weather by assembling or restocking a storm kit and creating an emergency plan with family, friends and neighbors. Eversource offers the following tips on its website to help customers prepare for emergencies:

Everyone should always stay clear of downed wires and to report them immediately to 9-1-1. Be sure to report any outage online at www.eversource.com, or by calling 800-286-2000. Customers who signed up for the company's new, two-way texting feature can send a text to report an outage and receive outage updates as they happen.
