Exxon Mobil Corporation is an oil group organized around 3 areas of activity:
- refining and distribution (82.5% of net sales): 6.4 million barrels of oil products (diesel fuel, gasoline, fuel oil, lubricants, motor oils, etc.) sold per day. At the end of 2012, the group operated a network of 19,382 service stations under the Exxon, Mobil, Esso names, etc.;
- exploration and production of hydrocarbons (8.9%; worldwide leader): 2.2 million barrels of crude oil and natural gas produced per day;
- petrochemical industry (8.6%): mainly oils, aromas, alcohols, ethylene, elastomers, propylene, and polymers (24,2 Mt sold in 2012) for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, textile, electrical, etc.
Net sales break down geographically as follows: the United States (33.4%), Canada (7.6%), the United Kingdom (7.5%), Belgium (5.2%), France (4.3%), Italy (4%), Germany (3.7%), Singapore (3.2%), Japan (3.1%) and other (28%).
