Faurecia announces that it has entered into a sponsorship agreement with the foundation of the Collège de France.

This three-year sponsorship agreement, eligible for renewal at term end, reflects Faurecia's resolve to promote research. Specifically, it aims to foster an ecosystem of high-level scientific and academic collaborations to enrich in-house thinking in two strategic areas: 'Smart Life on Board' and 'Sustainable Mobility.'

Patrick Koller, Chief Executive Officer of Faurecia, noted that 'the Collège de France is a prestigious academic and research institution, an outstanding reference both nationally and internationally. We're proud to be sharing the technological areas that we are researching and confronting our ideas with its experts. The agreement covers not only sponsorship, but also the possibility of project partnerships. Joint efforts like these are instrumental to raising the profile of French research in the world.'

For Faurecia, the point of this agreement and knowledge-sharing arrangement is to better comprehend the major challenges and changes that lie ahead, especially in two priority areas:

  • Chemistry: In the drive to develop more socially and environmentally responsible forms of mobility, this sector, including 'green' chemistry, will be vital to the development of more innovative, efficient and sustainable strategies, especially regarding plastics, catalysis, powertrains, fuel cell and battery electric vehicles. Faurecia will benefit from expert recommendations based on advanced research at the Collège de France, who leads and ambitious scientific program with three chairs gathered at the Institut de Chimie of the Collège de France, with more than 100 researchers, as well as doctoral and post-doctoral students.
  • Data science: Artificial intelligence and data analysis are complex fields of study. Within a few years, they will feature largely in the cockpit of the future. For Faurecia, these developments signify substantial new opportunities for value creation. Under this sponsorship agreement, Faurecia, as the beneficiary of Collège de France expertise, will deepen its understanding of developments in this field.

Faurecia will also be able to consult professors from the Collège de France on specific matters of forward-looking technology.
