Metered oiling without oil mist thanks to Feintool FEINspray

01.10.2014

An important step in fineblanking and forming sheet metal is oiling. Close attention should be paid to environmental considerations when developing new products. Feintool, the world's leading technology group specializing in the development of fineblanking systems, presents a new and innovative spray system, FEINspray, which is suitable both for new presses and for upgrading older systems.

The FEINspray system enables lubricant consumption to be significantly reduced. This energy-saving system operates without compressed air and with hardly any atomized spray, so there is no need for an extraction system. The press is less subject to fouling, and the surrounding air is not harmed by pollutants.

Better quality at lower cost
The FEINspray system is a highly flexible solution for the non-contact and precise application of oils to strip. The system is extremely user-friendly and low-maintenance. It is economical, produces hardly any spray mist, does not use compressed air - thus saving energy - and offers high-precision operation. No extraction system is required. Lubricant consumption is up to 50 percent lower than that of conventional systems. Oil metering is especially economical and precise thanks to a valve which pulses at high frequency with a single-jet spray nozzle. Energy- and cost-intensive compressed air usage is reserved for feeding materials via a metering piston pump and is thus minimized.

The spray system is integrated in the press control system. The operator specifies the two settings "Strip width" and "Intensity" in a simple process. The press then actuates the nozzles - the spray volume and frequency are order-specific. The metering setting ranges from very fine (minimal lubrication) to "flooding". With more viscous oils, FEINspray reduces the viscosity to improve sprayability precisely where it makes most sense: directly at the nozzle via a heated valve block. The system consequently creates a homogeneous spray pattern without damaging the oil. Heating of the nozzle is monitored via the control system, which guarantees high process precision and reproducibility. All commercially available lubricants can be used in FEINspray.

The modular FEINspray system is simply and compactly constructed. It can also be retrofitted in any Feintool fineblanking system. The simple construction is an immediately striking feature. All the valves on a spray rail are supplied via a feed line and connected to each other in series via hoses. A ten-litre pressurized reservoir or an optional double-piston pump supply the feed line with the necessary oil. Changing the individual nozzles and valves is effortless. Maintenance of the compact spray casing could also not be more straightforward: the spray rails are removed laterally with just a few hand movements.

Older Feintool presses can easily be fitted with the cost-effective and environmentally compatible FEINspray system. A separate mobile control unit forms the technological bridge. This incorporates the feed and control elements for the spray system in a space-saving unit. Installation work is kept to a minimum because the system is designed to permit the easy upgrading of older systems.
