To celebrate the presentation of the new Yamaha XSR 900 Abarth - the first motorbike created through the collaboration between two of the world's most dynamic motoring brands - Abarth has developed a new XSR prototype. The Tributo XSR is a concept car with grey livery and red finishing, in typical Yamaha XSR style. It boasts various carbon fibre components, highlighting affinities with the motorbike's front fairing, front mudguard and bumper, and seat cover.

The concept car and the Yamaha XSR 900 Abarth also share the use of Akrapovic ultralight exhausts, a component developed in the racing sector which boosts the personality, sonority and performance of both vehicles. The XSR logo on the tailgate seals the links between the two brands.

Performance, craftsmanship and technical upgrading have always been the Abarth brand's outstanding traits. The partnership with the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team during the FIM MotoGP World Championship is based on the sharing of these precise values, and Abarth has supplied the GP team with various special vehicles as part of the ongoing relationship between the two brands. Last year, for example, the collaboration with the Official Yamaha team led to the creation of the 'Yamaha Factory Racing Edition' 695 two-seater special series, with specific blue and white body and 190 HP engine.

Abarth's typical attitude to performance does not concern only concept cars and special series editions. This is demonstrated by 2016's two major novelties: the new Abarth 124 spider and the new 595.

Abarth 124 spider

The new Abarth 124 spider embodies all the thrills and pleasure that only a real spider can offer. Developed by the Abarth Racing team, the car perfectly embodies the leading values of the brand: performance, artisan craft and technical excellence. A car designed to light up the eyes of those lucky enough to drive it.
For outstanding dynamic performance, the Abarth 124 spider fits a mechanical self-locking differential as a standard feature. This device is typically used in top of the range sporting cars, and emphasises the adrenalin-charged personality of the new Abarth 124 spider. The weight is concentrated between the axles and the engine is installed behind the front axle to guarantee optimal agility and superior driving feel. Sophisticated mechanics and special materials have been used to contain the weight to just 1060 kilograms, which results in a weight-to-power ratio of 6.2 kg/HP, the best in its category. And the optimal weight distribution guarantees excellent feedback and agility.

Abarth 124 Rally

The new Abarth 124 Rally, developed in parallel with the 124 spider, is a combination of sheer technology and performance, created from the experience of the Abarth Racing Team to bring the Scorpion badge back to the most glorious and difficult rally venues. It is powered by a 1800 cm3 DOHC direct-injection turbo engine. Various different selectable mappings provide power up to 300 HP at 6500 rpm and an optimal torque curve. The transmission too has been designed to enhance performance: the engine is coupled to a snappy six-speed sequential gearbox with shift paddles, while traction is assured by the mechanically controlled slip differential.

Abarth 595

The new Abarth 595 range embodies the evolution of the Scorpion icon: more powerful engines, even higher-performing standard features and many product novelties, some currently reserved only for up-market vehicles.
Available in saloon or convertible versions, the new 595 Abarth range comes in three trim levels (595, 595 Turismo and 595 Competizione) and their relative engine power and tuning levels, designed to satisfy today's increasingly demanding and competent customers. Many of the upgrades introduced are the result of experience gained with the development of the 695 Biposto, the 'smallest supercar', a road car which offers the thrills and technology of a real racing car.

Distinctive yet affordable, the 595 version is Abarth's entry-level car: it offers all the standard equipment needed to ensure the thrilling driving pleasures typical of the Scorpion brand's creations. The 595 makes the ideal base for those who want to fine-tune their car's components over time, to make it unique. The 595 Competizione and the 595 Turismo express two further aspects of Abarth's identity. The former, more 'radical', is designed for those with a passion for performance and uncompromising sportiness. The latter is based on the typical values of Italian GTs, but in a compact format designed for urban use.
