GAS NATURAL FENOSA has signed a partnership agreement with the Spanish Lighting Committee (CEI) to foster joint projects in the field of efficiency, and to boost the competitiveness and technical improvement of its members. The power company and the organisation that encompasses and represents all Spanish professionals in the lighting industry will work together on activities to offer scientific and technological support capable of fostering efficient lighting technologies and the correct use of lighting techniques.

The agreement, signed today by the Director of Gas Natural Servicios, José Luis Lloret, and the Chairman of the Spanish Lighting Committee (CEI), Fernando Ibáñez, provides for collaboration between the two entities in the fields of training, science and technology of common interest, including participation in joint projects at both national and international levels.

Under this partnership agreement, GAS NATURAL FENOSA and the CEI have already begun work on the first Smart Lighting Index (IIE) - a regular study that will measure and observe developments in the smart lighting sector. The goal of this project is to draft a report on lighting for use as a national benchmark capable of positioning the Spanish sector in Europe and raising social awareness about lighting-related problems and techniques. Hence, the IIE will provide an overall perspective on the state-of-the-art in the Spanish lighting sector, market trends and their development over time.

The main purpose of the CEI, in the broadest and most varied sense, is to promote all scientific and technological activities related to the field of lighting through the promotion of study, research, development and innovation, as well as methods, rules and standards in the lighting technology sector.
