The Managing Director of Gas Natural Galicia, Roger Serrat, met today with the regional delegate for Pontevedra, José Manuel Cores Tourís, to inform him that the power company will earmark close to 9.5 million euros this year for its ongoing energy infrastructure expansion and development plan in the province of Pontevedra, and that it will add 5,200 new supply points and 35 kilometres of gas pipes.

At the meeting, during which they discussed natural gas distribution activity in the province and investment projects and forecasts, Roger Serrat stressed that Gas Natural Galicia invested over 44.5 million euros in the last five years in expanding and improving natural gas distribution networks and installations in Pontevedra.

Gas Natural Galicia, the distribution company of GAS NATURAL FENOSA in this region, provides a natural gas supply to 28 municipalities in Pontevedra, with over 79,000 supply points and a distribution network covering 1,037 kilometres. Hence, the following municipalities enjoy access to a natural gas supply: Baiona, Bueu, Caldas de Reis, Cambados, Cangas, Gondomar, Marín, Meaño, Moaña, Mos, Nigrán, Pontevedra, O Porriño, Poio, Ponteareas, Pontecaldelas, Pontecesures, Redondela, Ribadumia, Salceda de Caselas, Salvaterra de Miño, Sanxenxo, Soutomaior, Tui, Vigo, Vilagarcía de Arousa and Vilanova de Arousa. Furthermore, the company began supplying natural gas to the municipality of Lalín at the end of 2014 and will offer the service to residents of O Grove before the summer.

O Grove gas supply project

Gas Natural Galicia will invest more than 1.8 million euros in the municipality of O Grove to build a distribution network of over eight kilometres and offer a natural gas supply to its first customers in the urban area before the summer. The company, which will shortly start work on the first stage of pipe laying in the municipality, recently launched its information campaign and the commercialisation of its natural gas supply.

The first stage of supplying gas to O Grove will begin soon. It is expected that over 2,500 households, businesses and industries in the town will have access to the advantages and benefits of natural gas before the summer.
The supply of natural gas to O Grove will take place via a liquefied natural gas satellite plant (LNG), which will soon be installed on Monte Zapateira and from which the distribution network will bring gas to the urban area. The planned investment for installing the LNG plant amounts to 295,000 euros.

Gas Natural operations in Galicia

Gas Natural Galicia - the GAS NATURAL FENOSA distribution company in this autonomous region - has a distribution network of more than 3,100 kilometres and almost 245,000 supply points in 69 municipalities of Galicia where it distributes natural gas, meaning that 65% of the population in Galicia already has access to this source of energy.

The penetration rate (supply points divided by the total number of households in Galicia) stands at 30%, thanks to the company's investment effort over the last 15 years, during which time it has allocated 370 million euros to increasing and improving its natural gas distribution business.
Natural gas is the most economic continuous supply source of energy and enables households, businesses and industries to save energy, with hardly any need for installation investments in the case of residential housing. Natural gas is the most environmentally friendly fossil fuel. It is an energy of the future that helps improve quality of life and home comfort while raising the competitiveness and efficiency of industries and businesses.
