Gas Natural SDG : Fenosa and the Regional Government of Galicia acquire 10% of Galicia from Abanca for 9 million euros

• Following the deal, GAS NATURAL FENOSA now has 68.5% capital of the gas distribution company and the Regional Government increases its share to 30.9%.

Earlier today, the Regional Government of Galicia and GAS NATURAL FENOSA finalised the acquisition of 9.94% of Gas Natural Galicia from ABANCA for nine million euros. The the multinational energy company purchased 6.85% of the distribution company for 6.2 million euros, and the Regional Government purchased the remaining 3.1% for 2.8 million euros.

Following this deal, GAS NATURAL FENOSA has gone from owning 61.6% to 68.5% of Gas Natural Galicia's capital, while the Regional Government increases its share from 27.8% to 30.9%. The remaining 0.6% is owned by the A Coruña City Government.

This deal will strengthen Gas Natural Galicia's projected growth in upcoming years. The company currently has a distribution network of nearly 3,400 kilometres and supplies nearly 263,000 customers in 73 municipalities, meaning that 68% of the population of Galicia now has access to this energy source. To reach these levels, the distribution company has invested nearly 440 million euros in the last 15 years.

General Delegate of GAS NATURAL FENOSA in Galicia, Manuel Fernández Pellicer, stressed that this deal demonstrates the energy company's confidence in Galician development: 'Our increased stake in Gas Natural Galicia will allow us to continue growing alongside important partners such as the Regional Government, which has always understood the benefits of this energy for society and supported the gasification project. The same can be said of ABANCA, which has participated in the development of this infrastructure in Galicia for 18 vital years.'
