Rennes, Saint-Malo, Perros-Guirec and Ploufragan... Brittany is one of the regions of France where GDF SUEZ has a particularly strong presence. As a leading contributor to the energy transition, the Group is adding value to the resources of this region as part of developing its renewable energy sources.

In Brittany, GDF SUEZ is reinventing the energy model of local authorities by developing green mobility solutions and renewable energy sources. As part of this transition, the city of Quimper has chosen to work alongside GDF SUEZ to power its bus fleet with natural gas and reduce its CO2 emissions. In Rennes, the Group is developing energy services and managing the urban heating network to supply heating for local communities. To keep the energy transition on track, GDF SUEZ is also assisting the city with generating solar power. Thanks to the expertise of GDF SUEZ subsidiary company Savelys, cities like Ploufragan and Quimper have launched projects to upgrade the thermal insulation of homes to boost their energy performance.

In renewable energy, the Les Landes de Couesmé wind park symbolizes the approach adopted by GDF SUEZ and its subsidiary companies, which give priority to joint development projects that respect the environment and are delivered in partnership with local companies. GDF SUEZ is also committed to developing marine renewable energy sources in Brittany. In fact, the southern side of the island of Ushant is France's second-largest source of marine power. The GDF SUEZ ambition is to develop a marine power farm here by 2016.
