Happy New Year from G&H! Once again, many of us are getting ready to travel to San Francisco to attend or exhibit at Photonics West and BiOS, the world's largest annual event for the photonics, laser, and biomedical optics industries.

This year we will be highlighting the latest subsystems for OCT systems. We will have a dedicated aerospace & defense capabilities display. And of course we will be showing our strengths in laser control display technology with new drivers for industrial and biomedical OEM systems.

Read more below and see us in San Francisco, BiOS , booth no. 8320 and Photonics West, both 1215.

Optical Coherence Tomography

We've developed a worldwide reputation for innovation in the development of scanning subsystems for ophthalmic and cardiological OCT. We work with both leading medical OEMs and research labs to design and manufacture delay lines, interferometers and spectrometers. Our devices increase the both the efficiency and cost effectiveness of diagnostic and surgical procedures.

Our new polarization diverse receiver (PDR) device will be displayed for the first time. The PDR interferes two incoming beams and breaks them into their orthogonal linear polarization states (s-pol and p-pol) for high speed, polarization sensitive OCT measurements.

We introduced our delay line in 2014. Now in 2018 we're bringing the latest small form factor model to BiOS and Photonics West. The latest G&H small form factor delay line is at least four times faster than any such commercially available comparable product. What others can achieve in the test lab, our products can achieve day in, day out in clinical systems.

The Compact OCT Optical Spectrometer is a high resolution, flexible platform for spectral analysis of fiber coupled signals and designed to fit into any commercial OCT system.

Aerospace & Defence Display

G&H Aerospace & Defence Photonics will have a dedicated display for the first time. The newly established business unit brings together the design and engineering capabilities of several companies in the G&H Group, including StingRay Optics and Kent Periscopes.

Our enabling technology is behind OEM systems for many of the world's A&D primes. At the show, our expertise in manufacturing components and subsystems for demanding applications in rugged environments, and on an ITAR and non-ITAR basis, will be demonstrated by a display of technologies for varied applications:

  • Lens systems (including motorized zoom) for imaging across the infrared spectrum.
  • Micro optical packaging with a display of an eye-safe laser transmitter.
  • A range of precision optics for applications including weapon systems, rangefinding, target designation and navigation.
  • Our coating capabilities include high LIDT coating.
  • Instrumentation for display testing.
  • Fiber optic combiners for high power laser systems.
  • Space qualified amplifiers for satellite communications.

Drop past our booth to find out how our expertise can work for you. You'll find details of individual technological capabilities on our website.

Product Innovation

Laser System components

Our product innovation stand will feature the6000 series driver for ultrafast laser systems. The device replaces two drivers and their corresponding amplifiers with a single device, delivering the fastest processing possible for micro-material and microelectronics manufacturers.

Our tapered fiber bundle power combinersprovide a high efficiency means of combining light from several kilowatt pump sources on to a single fiber to pump CW fiber lasers. Great for High power CW fiber lasers and directed energy weapons systems.

Research Presentations

G&H technology is perfected by the application of R&D to generic market challenges. We'll be presenting some of our findings at the BiOS and Photonics West conference.

Photonics for quantum computing: Fiber-coupled acousto-optic modulators for near UV and blue wavelength applications

Paper 10547-18
Dr. Jon Ward
Fiber-coupled acousto-optic modulators can be used in a number of quantum information processing applications. In ion-traps they are used to impart frequency shifts on control beams and provide switching and modulation. We present results from the development of a Fiber-Q® fiber-coupled acousto-optic modulator, operating at near-UV and blue wavelengths.

Session 6: Hyperentanglement of Photons and Communication III
Tuesday 30 January 2018
Time: 5:00-5:20 PM
Location: Room 3006 (West Level 3)

Space qualification of multi-channel optical fiber amplifier for low Earth orbit satellite-to-ground direct downlinks

Paper 10524-35
Dr. Efstratios Kehayas

Laser communications can provide a robust solution to the ever increasing bandwidth requirements of remote sensing satellites. We present our final full functional and environmental test results of a mid-power booster amplifier suitable for direct downlinks to ground. The amplifier design focuses on low Size Weight and Power (SWaP), suitable for small satellite platforms.

Session 8: Transmitter Architectures and Components
Tuesday 30 January 2018
Time: 2:20-2:40 PM
Location: Room 158 (South Mezzanine)

Quantum panel discussion: How global investment is bringing quantum technologies to the marketplace

Dr. Andrew Robertson will be participate in discussion, covering the rapid advances in quantum technologies with the potential of great technical disruption in a number of other areas e.g. computation, navigation.

Tuesday 30 January 2018
8:30-9:45 AM
Moscone Center
