The Project "Dawn" has been Selected as a Typical Case of Market Cap Management in Shanghai Stock Exchange

The capital operation case of GSI - The "Dawn" project was selected as one of the 28 handpicked typical cases for market cap management in the year 2014 in Shanghai Stock Exchange and compiled as reference for capital market a few days ago.
GSI is the first and the only corporation with both A shares and H shares in Chinese shipbuilding industry. In early 2014, when the shipbuilding industry had been through a cycle slump for five years and the corporation faced downturn of dual industry and stocks, the controlling shareholders of GSI, China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) took the initiative and used as much as 2 billion RMB (abt. 50% of GSI's net asset in the end of 2012) to subscribe directional private placement H shares and fought a good "battle" which made "value discovery" to drive "market cap embodiment". In May, 2013, when the project started, the value of GSI A shares is 11.29 RMB per share. Then on February 12th 2014, when the project was finished, it rose to 15.84 RMB per share, which has risen for more than 1.6 times.
Experts pointed that the value management and the value realization of the corporation are best embodied in this case. The initiative of the major shareholder CSSC shows its firm confidence to the long-term development of GSI, and at the same time, arouses capital market to reconsider about the value of GSI. Moreover, activates the investors' passion to GSI. The opportunity that major shareholder chose as well as the intensity when it took the initiative both changed the simple-looking directional private placement subscription into an excellent market value management case.
