Hang Lung Volunteers Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with Near 100 Elderly Guests

(Hong Kong, September 3, 2014) As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, over 30 volunteers from Hang Lung Properties Limited held a dinner party last Sunday (August 31) for about 100 elderly people from the Hong Kong Young Women's Christian Association Sai Wan Social Centre for the Elderly. The evening was filled with joy and laughter.

The eldest guest at the dinner, Lee Yu Kam, 94, said, "I want to thank the Hang Lung volunteers for celebrating the festival with us. This party was a great deal of fun, and it made each of us feel like we are part of a big family."

After a series of exciting games, a Chinese fan dance by five elderly ladies followed, who stunned the crowd with their amazing performance. One of the dancers, Li Sat Chau, 73, who is completely blind in one eye, said, "I love dancing very much, as it enables me to regain my confidence and my strength. I believe that aging is not a problem, since as long as you have faith, you can overcome any obstacle."

For Gabriel Cheung, Assistant Director - Cost and Controls of Hang Lung Properties Limited, this dinner marked the first time he had the opportunity to dine with a large group of elderly people. He said, "This was an invaluable experience for me to talk and interact with so many elderly people. I understand that some of them sometimes spend Mid-Autumn Festival alone. I'm glad we had this wonderful opportunity to show our care and support."

During the course of the evening, volunteers gave away healthy moon cakes, which they have made the week prior, along with a "lucky" gift packs with rice, oatmeal and fruits. Hang Lung volunteers and the elderly guests also took photos together with giant traditional lanterns which brought a perfect end to the party.
