Hang Lung Volunteers and Elderly Enjoy Poolside Party

(Hong Kong, July 28, 2014) Twenty volunteers from Hang Lung Properties Limited (HKSE stock code: 101) held a refreshing summer poolside party for 30 elderly people from the Sai Wan Social Centre for the Elderly, Hong Kong Young Women's Christian Association, last Sunday (July 27).

Following instructions from the physiotherapist, the participants and volunteers practised warm-up exercises in the pool. The elderly people easily managed several of the difficult exercises, including kicking and balancing. They even took part in taichi "battles" with the volunteers.

After the exercises, the elderly people and volunteers formed three groups to compete in an exciting water-splashing game. Right from the start, all the teams tried their hardest, arousing much cheers and laughter from around the pool. In the end, all three teams gained the same score and each team had to send a representative to enter the final swimming contest. Happily, the elderly performed just as well as the volunteers in this contest.

Ricky Lui, Assistant Director - Project Construction of Hang Lung Properties Limited, said, "The elderly were just as energetic as the volunteers when they played with water guns, just like a group of youngsters." Mr. Lui is responsible for the construction of Hang Lung's projects in mainland China and has to travel frequently across the border. He found the opportunity to take part in the Company's voluntary events exceptionally meaningful, saying, "Hang Lung Properties frequently organizes different kinds of volunteer activities, thereby making its contribution to society and allowing colleagues along with their relatives and friends to gather together. It's really worthwhile joining these events."

Seventy-six-year-old Chan Kam Pui, who excelled at swimming, said, "I used to swim with my wife a lot when we were dating. However, I'm no longer able to swim with her so often due to health issues. I thank Hang Lung's volunteers for today's thoughtful arrangements, giving me the opportunity to swim again with my wife. It reminds me a lot about our happy old days."
