ID Logistics: launch of Innovation Campus

Cavaillon, 2 February 2018 - ID Logistics yesterday launched its Innovation Campus in Châtres in the Paris region of France. The creation of the Innovation Campus - a first for a logistics service provider in France - fits in fully with the Group's innovation strategy, which has been rolled out successfully over the last three years in France and abroad.

The Innovation Campus is spread across a large converted site of over 1,500 m2 within immediate proximity of two operational sites (Castorama and Marionnaud) and comprises around 20 innovations that have been rolled out or are being trialled within the Group's various subsidiaries.

The opening of the Campus will allow ID Logistics' clients and prospects to view and get a concrete idea of specific projects. It is also a place for training and meetings, both for ID Logistics group staff and for its various partners, such as leading universities, start-ups and industrial groups.

These innovations include in particular:

  • - innovations to improve productivity, user-friendliness and quality of working conditions for employees, such as the Remote Controlled Forklift (semi-automated order picker), the Efficient Pick (robot that automatically moves shelves to an unloading station), the Automated Shuttle and the handling assistance harness;

  • - innovations geared towards service standards for clients: the robot sweeper, the "connected wagon" solution of Everysens, based on the Internet of Things, used by IDEO and giving complete visibility on the location of wagons in service;

  • - innovations offering improved product traceability: video tracking (HD monitoring system) and taking photographs on loading;

  • - innovations allowing for the optimisation of logistics flows, in particular with the Smart Network (system for operational processing of Big Data);

  • - innovations to support the development of e-commerce or multi-format retail, in particular the Order Distribution System in place at Marionnaud (based on picking the exact requirement for high and low-rotation products, coupled with automated storage of medium-rotation items with picked items allocated to store containers and bespoke packaging).

Ludovic Lamaud, Executive Vice-President, Development and Innovation, comments: "The innovation's approach is central to the development of ID Logistics. The aim is to develop new services offering a high level of added value and to improve processes and operating tools in order to support the Group's strategy of supporting its clients. We involve our entire ecosystem, including research centres, start-ups and leading universities, in order to set an overall strategic framework with targets that are also shared by all of our staff. The creation of the Innovation Campus plays an active part in the cultural revolution currently being seen in the sector and in which ID Logistics intends to be a driving force."

Eric Hémar, CEO and Chairman of ID Logistics, adds: "Our industry is constantly evolving, with faster logistics flows, shorter delivery times, more products and more intense unit order preparation. We need to constantly learn to update ourselves and innovate in order to help our clients to grow and to convince new clients."
