Securing global trade

18 November, 2014

Imperial Tobacco outlined how its supply chain is secured through electronic tracking and tracing of products at a major international trade event.

The Digital Coding & Tracking Association (DCTA), of which Imperial is an active member, sponsored this year's Global Trade Development Week (GTDW) in Dubai.

GTDW is the world's largest trade development, investment and customs programme attracting representatives from more than 80 countries.

Speaking at the event, Imperial's Senior Coding & Tracking Manager, Mark Hill, set out the DCTA's role in promoting technical standards and digital solutions.

He said: "Protecting international trade is essential for the world's economy and Track & Trace technology offers security throughout the supply chain from factory to consumer.

"Authentication of genuine product also helps to meet international regulations and supports legitimate businesses and authorities in the fight against illicit trade."
