Our cigarette factory in Chad has achieved international certification for workplace health and safety as well as for its environmental standards and product quality management.
The Manufacture de Cigarettes du Tchad site (pictured) near Moundou in the south of the country established a workforce committee to implement a series of improvements.
As a result of their efforts over 18 months, the central African facility has now successfully achieved OHSAS 18001 as well as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certificates.
Moundou Factory Manager Omer Kipre said: "There has been a good deal of work done by the factory management and all our employees to ensure we were fully certified.
"Certification provides official assurance this manufacturing location is operating at a standard that is recognised around the world.
"We're all very proud of this achievement but this is not the end of our journey - it's the start of a journey to achieve continuous improvement in the future."
