The '500 kV Mantaro-Marcona-Socabaya- Montalvo transmission line and substations' project was built by the Transmantaro consortium, ISA's affiliate, and represents one of the largest energy transmission infrastructure challenges carried out in this continent.
The estimated annual revenues for this project will be USD 41,5 million.
The '500 kV Mantaro - Marcona - Socabaya - Montalvo transmission lines and substations' project comprises the construction of a 918-km line which runs through 16 provinces and 52 districts in the departments of Huancavelica, Ayacucho, Ica, Arequipa, and Moquegua.
This is one of the 500 kV transmission projects with the largest extension developed in Peru. It is also the highest energy transmission line built in Latin America (more than 4 thousand meters above the Ayacucho's sea level).
1934 towers and 12 thousand kilometers of conductor cable were needed for its construction. 'For the construction of this project we have used modern technology and the application of very high standards. As a result, we deliver automated, robust, and reliable systems for the operation and maintenance of this project which will be in our charge for the next 30 years, according to the concession', said ISA REP's CEO, Carlos Mario Caro.
This project's total investment was approximately USD 450 million, and only in its social component it had an investment of USD 5.5 million. This amount is reflected on actions which will improve the nearby communities' quality of life. For instance, the adequacy of a farm, in alliance with ElectroPerú, to develop tourism and culture in the area and the generation of more than 3,000 direct and indirect jobs.
'With the delivery of this important project, ISA ratifies its solid commitment towards the development and growth of Peru, a country with a very special meaning for the group since it was the first territory where we open to the international market. Fifteen years after this memorable milestone, we can say very proudly, that ISA, through its companies, Red de Energía del Perú, Consorcio Trasmantaro and ISA Perú, keeps the leadership in the high-voltage energy transmission in the country, being present in 21 provinces, operating more than 10,000 kms of lines with the highest reliability and availability standards,' highlighted Bernardo Vargas Gibsone, ISA's CEO, at the project's inauguration.
ISA continues with its expansion path in Perú
It is important to remember that last October, ISA won in Perú, the bid for '500 kV Mantaro - Nueva Yanango-Carapongo and substations' and '500 kV Nueva Yanango-Nueva Huánuco and substations', which will have a total approximate investment of USD 272.04 million, annual maintenance and operation revenues for USD 6.83 million, for a total of USD 40.60 million annual revenues.
The new 500 kV transmission lines will reinforce the energy transmission system from the Peruvian center to the coast. These lines will make possible the evacuation of power from the new hydroelectric generation projects and offer more reliability to the energy supply for the regions of Huánuco, Cerro de Pasco, and Ancash with the generation at the center of the country.
