James Fisher Nuclear wins a hat trick of Nuclear Decommissioning Authority 2014 Supply Chain Awards.

James Fisher Nuclear (JFN) is delighted to announce they have won three awards at the prestigious NDA Supply Chain Awards held at Event City Manchester on 6th November 2014.

JFN were the winners in the "Best application of an innovative solution(s) with tangible savings/benefits-large company" and "Best example of supplier 'going the extra mile' " categories. JFN were also part of the Give2Gain consortium which won the "Best supply chain collaboration award."

The Best Application of Innovation solution award recognised JFN's work with submersible operated vehicles (ROV) to support decommissioning of Sellafield's legacy ponds. Working closely with Sellafield and ROV suppliers, JFN has adapted commercially available ROVs from the off-shore sector and provided innovation in design, tooling and deployment to support characterisation and remote handling tasks, which could not be addressed by conventional technologies. The programme has delivered significant milestones in the clean-up of the First Generation Magnox Storage Pond (FGMSP).

The Best example of supplier 'Going the Extra Mile' was awarded for exceptional delivery of the Radiometric Instrumentation Metrology contract to the Magnox sites. JFN's initiatives included streamlined ordering system, improved calibration turnaround times, introduction of a one-stop shop for consumables and spare parts and embedding multi-skilled technicians at Magnox sites. All of these produced huge improvements in equipment availability and clear cost-savings.

JFN were also part of the Give2Gain consortium, a skills pilot, which won the Best Supply Chain Collaboration Award. Over 60 entries were received for four award categories.

Paul Read, managing director of James Fisher Nuclear commented "I am delighted that the NDA and our customers recognise the effort, team work and innovation that goes into successful project delivery. These awards reflect the dedication and skill of JFN staff and their determination to deliver the best possible solution for our customers. The Give2Gain programme complements our apprenticeships, university bursaries and graduate training programmes in developing our staff for the future."
