Jet Airways celebrates Children's Day with a 'Flight of Fantasy' for the children of VISA, ASEEMA and MAGIC BUS

15 Nov 2007

In keeping with the spirit of Children's Day, Jet Airways, India's premier airline, today operated an hour-long 'Flight of Fantasy' in support of the Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO's) VISA (Vision in Social Arena), ASEEMA and MAGIC BUS.

Jet Airways Boeing 737-800 "Flight of Fantasy" 9W 5636 took off from Chattrapathi Shivaji International Airport's Domestic Departure terminal at 1630 hrs, circled Mumbai city, and arrived back at 1730 hrs.

The flight was operated in association with General Electric (GE) Volunteers, in aid of VISA, ASEEMA and MAGIC BUS, three NGO's that work for the betterment of children living in disadvantaged circumstances.

The event began at the Domestic Departure terminal of Mumbai's Chattrapathi Shivaji International Airport with music, dance and entertainment for our little guests. A magician, juggler cum clown stole the show, enthralling the children with his antics.

Well-known actor, director and social activist, Mr. Rahul Bose, along with film star Neil Nitin Mukesh, lent support to this noble cause and interacted with the children, leaving them delighted.

Balloons and streamers festooned with Jet Airways colours further added to the gaiety at the venue. The children were then served refreshments, courtesy The Oberoi.
The event was attended by Jet Airways Senior Management, including Mr. Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, CEO, Jet Airways, Mr. PK Sinha, Vice President- International Relations and Industry Affairs, Jet Airways, the Jet Airways Mumbai team as well as the GE Volunteers team.

The event saw a number of corporates come together to make the day memorable for the children. Jet Airways presented the children with Jet Kids gift hampers. Refreshments served on board were courtesy TajSATS and fuel for the flight was courtesy Hindustan Petroleum.

Jet Airways has always been at the forefront of activities to help and support children living in marginalized circumstances. This flight was amongst several similar flights that Jet Airways has operated since commencing operations in 1993, in support of 'special' and underprivileged children. On January 7, 1997, Jet Airways launched its in-flight collection programme, the 'Magic Box', in association with the NGO Save the Children India (STCI). This fund-raising programme for STCI is unique to Jet Airways, and is implemented on all its flights in the airline's 45 - destination domestic network, thereby allowing its passengers to participate in this noble cause.
