Julius Baer Group Ltd. successfully places SGD-denominated perpetual tier 1 subordinated bonds

Zurich/Singapore, 11 November 2015 - Following a short book-building process, Julius Baer Group Ltd. has successfully placed SGD 450 million of perpetual non-cumulative Additional Tier 1 securities with private banks and institutional investors. The securities carry a coupon of 5.90% and include an optional redemption call on 18 November 2020 or on 18 November of each year thereafter. The securities will be issued in denominations of SGD 250,000 and multiples thereof. The transaction helps to optimise Julius Baer Group's capital structure, taking into account the diminishing Basel III capital recognition of Julius Baer Group's outstanding 'old-style' capital instruments (preferred securities and lower tier 2 subordinated unsecured bonds), and will ensure the company's flexibility for future growth. The securities are fully compliant with Basel III and qualify as Additional Tier 1 capital, thus further benefitting the Group's very solid capital levels and ratings. Moody's assigned the instrument a provisional Baa2 rating. An application has been made for provisional admission to trading on the Singapore Exchange.

Dieter A. Enkelmann, Chief Financial Officer of Julius Baer Group Ltd., said: "We are proud to be the first European bank issuing an AT1 instrument denominated in SGD directly into the Singapore market. It strongly diversifies and globalises our AT1 investor base which was enabled through our much increased brand awareness in Asia following the acquisition of the former Merrill Lynch International Wealth Management (IWM) business outside the US. It also demonstrates our strong ties and commitment to Asia as Julius Baer's second home market. And, importantly, we were able to take advantage of an attractive market window in the Singapore market."
