June 23, 2017 - Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), a FORTUNE 500® science and technology company, today announced that Karoom Brown, Leidos Health senior vice president Business Development & Strategy, won the Executive Leadership Award for Industry - Large Business by the Association for Federal Information Resources Management (AFFIRM) at the organization's AFFIRM Annual Leadership Celebration. Brown earned this award for his contributions to the healthcare information technology (IT) field, and his dedication to community service.
The AFFIRM Leadership Awards are among the most prestigious of the Federal community, honoring individuals and teams for their outstanding leadership over the preceding year. First awarded in 1979, award honorees join a prestigious list of agency executives and managers. This year's event was held on June 22 at the Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington D.C.
Throughout his career, Brown has distinguished himself as a leader and advocate for health IT. As an executive, he has implemented high-impact strategies and tactics that grew business. His work with federal customers, such as the Federal Drug Administration, resulted in streamlined services that improved the organization's efficiency and data management. At other agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institutes of Health and Department of Veterans Affairs, his team is developing strategies to address analytics for epidemic surveillance and epidemiology, research to find cures for deadly diseases and new approaches for preventative care.
As an active volunteer, Brown recognizes the importance of giving back to the community. He is a strong supporter and champion of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Wounded Warriors and Children's Inn at the National Institutes of Health.
