Flow-through design minimizes signal distortion, reduces voltage overshoot, allows for simpler PCB design

CHICAGO, September 13, 2016 - Littelfuse, Inc., the global leader in circuit protection, today introduced a series of low capacitance TVS Diode Arrays (SPA® Diodes) optimized to protect high-speed differential data lines from electrostatic discharge (ESD), cable discharge events (CDE), electrical fast transients (EFT), and lightning-induced surges.

The SP3374NUTG Series comes in a compact (3.0 x 2.0mm) μDFN package. Each device can protect up to four channels or two differential pairs against up to 40A (IEC 61000-4- 5 2nd edition) and up to 30kV ESD (IEC 61000-4-2). The 'flow-through' design minimizes signal distortion, reduces voltage overshoot, and provides a simplified printed circuit board design.

The SP3374NUTG's low capacitance and low clamping voltage make it ideal for 1GbE applications such as the high-speed data interfaces found in notebooks, desktops, servers, switches, etc. Additional applications include 10/100/1000 Ethernet interfaces, WAN/LAN equipment, LVDS interfaces, integrated magnetics, and Smart TVs.

'The SP3374NUTG Series offers circuit designers a new component option in the 3.3V working voltage range,' said Tim Micun, product manager, TVS Diode Arrays. 'It is functionally equivalent to the popular 2.5V SP2574N Series TVS Diode Arrays from Littelfuse, except at a higher voltage.'

SP3374NUTG Series TVS Diode Arrays offer these key benefits:
• Low capacitance (3.5pF per I/O) preserves signal integrity and minimizes data loss while offering a more robust device against electrical threats
• Compact (3.0 x 2.0mm) μDFN packaging is optimized for protection of high-speed differential data lines
• Provide protection for two differential data pairs (4 channels) against up to 40A
• 'Flow-through' design minimizes signal distortion, reduces voltage overshoot, and provides a simplified PCB design
• High immunity from ESD (±30kV contact, ±30kV air), Electrical Fast Transients (40A), and lightning (40A) enables manufacturers to achieve ESD protection beyond the maximum level stated in the IEC standard and protect against a multitude of other threats to ensure product reliability
