Logicom Public : Supports F1 in Schools – Greece

Logicom, the leading the leading regional distributor of Technology Solutions and Services, lent its support to the F1 in Schools Formula 1 STEM Challenge in Greece, providing the hardware for wireless access, as well as Cisco Webex sessions for broadcasting the races and results live.

F1 in Schools is the world's largest technology challenge and comprehensive educational initiative, aimed at engaging and encouraging students to continue studying STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) at further and higher education. The Formula 1 STEM Challenge engages 5 to 19 year olds from primary and secondary schools in 45 countries.

The Finals of the Panhellenic Competition were held in Athens, with the participation of 15 groups of high school students across Greece.

With the support of Logicom Greece, the participating teams, as well as guests, had internet access via the Cisco Meraki Network for the entire 10 day period. A report prepared at the end of the event showed a total of more than 600 distinct clients, which generated more than 100GB of traffic. Webex traffic was prioritized to ensure high quality of delivered content, while content filtering in the Meraki Security Appliance ensured a 'clean,' school-safe environment. During the races, live video, audio, results and written commentary were made available to anyone who was not present, via Cisco Webex.

Following the success of this project, Logicom Greece aims to continue their cooperation by providing services to the winning teams as they prepare for the World Finals. Cisco Spark and Cisco Webex will be used for to connect members and allow for collaboration anywhere, at any ti​me, and from any device. We wish the teams the best of luck!
