Major health and education wins and government partnerships provide big boost to Maintel's public sector business

London, 16th November, 2017: Maintel, the unified communications specialist, is celebrating a record year of public sector wins, building on the company's acquisition of Intrinsic Technology in the summer.

In 2017 Maintel added more organisations to its roster of public service clients, including Greater London Authority, Kingston Hospital NHS Trust, London Borough of Redbridge, and Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Services.

Maintel has also secured lucrative projects with existing clients, including University of Bath and a major £10m managed services and IP telephony contract with University College London Hospitals (UCLH).

Over the last 15 years Maintel has developed a unique perspective on the communications challenges facing organisations ranging from central and local government to public health providers. Following the acquisition of Intrinsic Technology, which already boasted a significant public sector account base, and major new £1m-plus Cisco business wins with international exams group Cambridge Assessment, North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust and Kent and Essex Police, Maintel's public sector practice now accounts for over 20 per cent of the company's revenue.

'With the public sector facing significant budget cuts, organisations, such as the NHS, are increasingly looking at how they can make material cash savings while still improving critical services,' said Eddie Buxton, CEO at Maintel. 'Recently we have seen an increased willingness within the public sector to consider cloud as a vehicle to deliver efficiency and savings, thanks largely to its reliability and security.'

As a Crown Commercial Services partner, Maintel has secured membership to all ten lots in the Network Services Framework (RM1045), enabling the company to create and develop end-to-end holistic communications environments for its customers. One measure of Maintel's success is the fact that it provides services to six of the nine new unitary authorities created since 2009.

'While 2017 has been a great year for Maintel, we have every reason to expect even more success in 2018,' continued Buxton. 'The health sector is showing increasing demand for IP telephony to bring down costs and boost efficiency. A number of trusts have signed up to our ICON Communicate platform, having banished their doubts about the security of cloud-based services. Meanwhile, we are on course to become a Health and Social Care Network (HSCN) member in Q1 2018, which promises more exciting opportunities with NHS organisations planning to upgrade from the N3 network.

'We have helped more than 300 public sector organisations to modernise their communications, covering over 250,000 employees,' said Buxton. 'Our success is testament to the hard work of everyone at Maintel, and their commitment to growing relationships with our customers that focus on solving the strategic communications problems they face.'
