On November 21st, the two 12-t consumable electrode vacuum furnaces, which were designed and process-integrated for Fushun Special Steel Co., Ltd (FSSC) by MCC Oriental Holding Ltd (MCCO), successfully produced a 5.2-ton ingot iron with the diameter of 660 millimeters. The preliminary test showed that the surface quality of the iron reached the relevant technical requirements.
The furnace project is an important large-scale project on design of special melting of MCCO, following the successful implementation of the design projects for Xining Special Steel Co., Ltd and the Jinchuan nickel and nickel alloy sheets, etc. According to the plan, FSSC plans to install 13 furnaces in its consumable electrode vacuum furnace workshop, which can produce high-temperature alloy, ultrahigh-strength steel, special stainless steel and other special steel products. So far, construction of the main structure of the workshop has been completed and one 6-t and two 12-t consumable electrode vacuum furnaces are in the process of commissioning after being installed, with other relevant equipment being or to be installed successively.
The furnace is equipped with the advanced long-range control image pickup system, which can achieve the optimal observing effect depending on the different diameters of electrodes by means of such operations as movement and focusing. With the machined cube-typed framework, the furnace can be easily installed, overhauled and cleaned. Meanwhile, the fully automated computer control system contains the control module for remelting in segments and the special molten drop control module, which can ensure higher precision of data monitoring and collection. In addition, the furnace features melting of ingots with a wide range of diameters and the 12-ton furnace is able to smelt five types of ingots with the diameters ranging from 406 to 920 meters.
