CRIBC's Achievements of 'Research and Application of Key Technology in Earthquake Resistance of Complex Industrial Buildings' Reaches International Advanced Level

On March 28th, the achievements of 'Research and Application of Key Technology in Earthquake Resistance of Complex Industrial Buildings', completed in collaboration by the CRIBC, China National Machinery Industry Corporation and other units, passed the authentication organized by the MCC Group.

The authentication commission consisting of CSCEC Academician Xiao Xuwen, Tsinghua University Professor Qian Jiaru and other experts listened to the research group's achievement report, checked and approved such technical data as the project's work reports, technical reports, novelty search reports, application reports and so on in detail, and raised and discussed the contents of the topic. The commission spoke highly of the achievements of 'Research and Application of Key Technology in Earthquake Resistance of Complex Industrial Buildings', and considered that they reached the international advanced level as a whole, among which the performance-based design method of industrial building earthquake resistance, key technologies in industrial building steel structure earthquake resistance design, and key technologies in seismic appraisal and reinforcement in industrial buildings reached the international advanced level, displayed good economic and social benefits, and were recommended for popularization and application as soon as possible.

'Research and Application of Key Technology in Earthquake Resistance of Complex Industrial Buildings' is a key topic strongly supported by MOST, MOHURD and other ministries and commissions. Through many years of cooperative research, the industry-university-research cooperation technology team composed by the CRIBC, China National Machinery Industry Corporation, China Academy of Building Research, Harbin Institute of Technology and other units carried out a large number of domestic and overseas earthquake damage investigations. Furthermore, through a series of experimental research projects, the team analyzed the seismic hazards of foundations in industrial construction sites and the earthquake damage mechanisms of industrial buildings, formulated structural earthquake-resistant theoretical methods and design technology systems, formed packaged technologies of industrial building earthquake resistance authentication and reinforcement aiming at different target service life periods, and compiled a series of national and industry technology standard s in industrial building earthquake resistance tailored for different types of industrial structures. These achievements have been applied and put into practice at the Baosteel Zhanjiang Steel Mill, China Erzhong (Deyang) Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. and all previous earthquake relief work, creating remarkable economic and social benefits.
